I am writing today with an update about where I am taking Wapiti Studios as a business, as I've decided to make a few changes in the new year. This update is a bit overdue, and it represents a much-needed change on my part!

New Alberta wildlife designs in the shop!
The team at CPAWS NAB has kindly allowed me to re-print my illustrations for sale, so I am happy to announce that I now have several new Alberta wildlife designs up in my Redbubble shop! The designs include both plant and animal species, and I look forward to expanding the collection as time goes on.
Rotifers: Tiny, near-indestructible animals (comic)
Unless you’ve taken a class on invertebrates, my guess is that the word “rotifer” doesn’t mean much to you. What about “wheeled animalcule”? That’s another name for these funny microscopic animals that are found just about everywhere on the planet. And they have some pretty wild superpowers. Check out this comic to introduce yourself to these wonderful, little-known creatures!
New infographic! Mating behaviour of a giant insect from New Zealand.
Have you ever heard of weta? They are a group of fascinating giant cricket-like insects that are uniquely only found in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The latest infographic from Wapiti Studios helps to explain a recent study on the Wellington tree weta, which is a species of tree-dwelling weta called putangatanga.
Why we need science communication for nature conservation
Nature is aesthetically pleasing and inspiring all on its own, with or without a scientific context. So why do we need science communication for conservation? People need inspiration, but they also need a concrete roadmap to help them figure out what to do with their inspired energy!
