Rotifers: Tiny, near-indestructible animals (comic)

Unless you’ve taken a class on invertebrates, my guess is that the word “rotifer” doesn’t mean much to you. What about “wheeled animalcule”? That’s another name for these funny microscopic animals that are found just about everywhere on the planet. And they have some pretty wild superpowers. Check out this comic to introduce yourself to these wonderful, little-known creatures!

I created this comic to participate in a monthly science communication challenge being put on by Lifeology right now! For May, the challenge was to create a comic on the theme of “smaller than the eye can see.” Follow the Lifeology Twitter to see more of the submissions! You can also join us on the Lifeology Slack if you’d like to participate and try your hand at some scicomm challenges. There is a whole community of scientists, artists and storytellers who can help you take your work to the next level. The challenge for June will be on infographics!
