Hiatus announcement
I am writing today with an update about where I am taking Wapiti Studios as a business, as I've decided to make a few changes in the new year. This update is a bit overdue, and it represents a much-needed change on my part!
In a nutshell, I have been trying to balance Wapiti Studios with other jobs (part-time or full-time commitments) over the last three years, and it has come to a point where I unfortunately can no longer sustain the business while also sustaining my own health and work-life balance.
I have decided that for the moment, the best decision for me is to put Wapiti Studios (as a sole proprietorship) on hiatus and stop accepting any new work. I will be wrapping up any existing work as promised; however, once those jobs wrap up, I will be off on hiatus for the foreseeable future.
This has been a hard decision to make, but it’s truly for the best. I want to extend my heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me as a small business for the last three years. I have had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects with really wonderful people who share my own values and vision for taking care of our Mother Earth. I hold these projects and people close to my heart and I am so grateful!
Moving forward, I am planning to reshape Wapiti Studios into an artists' collective and use this existing website as a platform to showcase different up-and-coming digital artists who are doing similar work to me. I have had the good fortune to meet and mentor several artists over the last year or so, and I see this transition as a perfect opportunity to support their momentum since I have already been referring new contracts their way for the last few months.
The small collective (four artists total so far!) will be meeting in the new year to discuss the structure of the collective and how best to support each other's goals. If/when I reactivate myself as a business, I will be a member of the collective and I will have an equal space on the platform to the other artists.
