I offer flat rates for some of my products and services based on my experience iterating these offerings many times. My pricing reflects not only the time they take to produce, but also the long-term and enduring value they offer to clients.

Infographic Package

This package includes:

  • 1-2 page fully illustrated infographic, optimized for both print and digital distribution

  • Customized social media panels to support online dissemination

  • Exported assets (transparent .PNGs) for unlimited re-use across your organization’s brand

Making Effective Research Presentations Workshop (in-person or hybrid only)

This package includes:

  • Pre-workshop meeting to tailor the training to your organization’s needs

  • Workshop delivered over one day (8 hours) or two days (two 4-hour sessions)

  • Post-workshop reporting to summarize impact and recommended next steps

*Pricing does not include travel fees and is appropriate for a maximum of 15 participants. For larger groups, a second facilitator is required and adds a cost of $1500.

This package includes:

  • ½ page graphical abstract summarizing your research paper, compliant with journal formatting/design requirements

  • Customized social media panels to support online dissemination

Hourly rates

 

For all other services, I charge a standard hourly rate of $100/hr.

I am pleased to provide pricing on my services with discounted rates to help compensate for financial barriers that clients with less resources may face. My goal is to provide science communication services at a rate that is appropriate and affordable to the client I am working with. It is especially important to me that organizations that may be under-resourced, such as charities and service clubs, are still able to benefit from excellent science communication!

How long does a project take?

In science communication, every project tends to be unique, so it can be hard to give an exact estimate of how many hours a project will take without some more details about the context, scope, audience, etc.! That being said, I find most project timelines are limited by the review and revision steps - projects take longer when more reviewers are involved. It can sometimes take multiple weeks just to receive and collate feedback from everyone before creating a new iteration of the product.

How can I find funding for science communication work?

Grants are a great place to start! I have documented over 200 grants applicable for science communication and knowledge exchange projects in Western Canada. Check out my Ultimate Guide to Grants here!

If grants are not a valid route for you or your organization, you might want to consider corporate sponsorships or planning for SciComm carve-outs in your existing research budgets.
