Caribou in Splatsin Territory: A story of reconnection

This infographic was co-developed with Biodiversity Pathways and Splatsin First Nation members and youth. It was distributed as a tri-fold brochure to community members and was developed to embrace this at-home, family-friendly format with word games, mazes, and colouring features for kids. The infographic integrates culture, history, and science together to create a holistic narrative about peoples’ relationships with caribou and future desires for caribou on their Traditional Territory.

The infographic was also published in a research paper in FACETS in 2026.

Collaborating with youth.

As part of this project, Sarah mentored a Splatsin youth in digital art production skills. The mentorship included a series of one-on-one sessions to provide tutorials on Adobe design software, answer questions, and discuss career pathways. Integrating this component made the project more meaningful and impactful, underlining the importance of including youth and upholding them as future leaders.
